| Man found shot in pickup
Shattered glass was all that remained at the scene yesterday morning, after an apparent gangland hit in North Vancouver. A man in his 20s was found slumped over in the front seat of a pickup truck on Saturday night after police were called to the 600-block Queens Road West around 11:15. The fatal shooting, which happened in the parking lot of the Delbrook Recreation Centre, had all the indicators of being a targeted hit, police said yesterday. .

LAST night after her uncontested "victory" in Florida, Hillary Clinton was introduced by... Alcee Hastings, removed from by the Senate in 1998 after impeachment from* in the House, under a heavy cloud of suspicion of bribery when he was a federal judge. (A bit of the colourful background here.) Bill Clinton pardoned Mr Hastings' alleged co-conspirator on his last day in office. Doesn't Ms Clinton have any slightly less dodgy-looking Floridian backers? Or if slightly suspect they must be, ones whose former associates had not been pardoned from federal prison by her husband? *[Correction: Mr Metcalph is correct. Mac 'on fire' as Apple reports huge growth
Apple reported $170m in revenue from its Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard update, released in October. CFO Peter Oppenheimer described that figure as a "significant increase" from the $100m in sales OS X 10.4 saw during the first quarter of its release. The company estimates that 19 percent of its installed base is already using the 10.5 update. Apple also sold 22,121,000 iPods during the quarter, also a record. Those iPod sales represented the first full quarter of sales since Apple overhauled its iPod line in September, introducing a video-capable iPod nano, the high-capacity iPod classic, and the brand-new iPod touch. Apple says the iPod's market share remained consistent from a year ago. Quarterly iPhone sales were 2,315,000 units. Steve Jobs said during last week's Macworld Expo keynote that the company has sold 4 million iPhones since the device launched on June 29.
Job market softening, data shows
EMPLOYERS sick and tired of the current labour shortage should take heart from the latest SEEK Employment Index figures, the on-line job advertising company says. The index, which measures the ratio of new job ads to job applications, rose by 0.7 per cent in February, indicating it was marginally more difficult for employers to fill positions than it was in January. However, SEEK sales director Joe Powell says when looked at in the context of a 4.9 per cent fall in the past quarter, the index suggests long term relief may be in sight for staff-strapped employers. "The data for the last three months suggests the economy may be approaching a turning point," Mr Powell said. "It will be reassuring to employers that the gap between demand and supply may finally be starting to close." The data indicates the employment market is starting to soften.
Interview: Never Back Down's Amber Heard
They both have beautiful character arcs and they both carry each other to different places in the script than where they started. You say that you escaped that world. How did you escape? Were you about to become that girl, like Baja? I think Ive always had a certain amount of skepticism of this whole shut up and smile theory. I havent ever swallowed that pill so easily, although I tried. I think every girl has at that point because the pressure that society puts on you is intense. Im not talking about to be thin like models in magazines. Thats such an easy thing that people always relate to it. Its much deeper than that. Its that moment in class when you know the answer and youre afraid to raise your hand. I used to be very interested in the history of womens rights in this country and in other countries.
