It’s official: Rockford lands Ireland flights

Twice-weekly flights between Rockford and Shannon, Ireland, will start June 26, according to Kenny Tours. The Maryland-based company signed a deal Thursday with North American Airlines to fly the route through Aug. 31, said Bob Nay, Kenny Tours' director of sales and marketing. The flights will be Thursdays and Sundays. Round-trip airfares start at $888, including taxes and airport fees. Six-night motor coach tours, including airfare and hotels, start at $1,489. Six-night bed-and-breakfast stays, including airfare and car rental, start at $1,489. The seasonal model is similar to Chicago Rockford International Airport's other international route, Apple Vacations' weekly flights to Cancun, Mexico, in the winter. But the Ireland flights will be on Boeing 757s with almost 200 seats, which would be the largest plane used on a regularly scheduled passenger route from Rockford.

Types of files stored in the selected folder and its subfolders. And also their total size and the number of them. The chart of how the disk space is distributed among folders and files.

Version 1.5.1 improved scanning speed and fixed some bugs.

Study: For women, heart risks fade but new cancers arise

That heart trouble associated with hormones may not be permanent is good news for millions of women who quit taking them after the government study was halted six years ago because of heart risks and breast cancer.

But the new risks for other cancers, particularly lung tumors, in women who had taken estrogen-progestin pills for about five years puzzled the researchers and outside experts.

Those risks "were completely unanticipated," said Dr. Gerardo Heiss of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, lead author of the follow-up analysis.

The analysis focused on participants' health in the first two to three years after the study's end. During that time, those who'd taken hormones but stopped were 24 percent more likely to develop any kind of cancer than women who'd taken dummy pills during the study.

Blackberry outage endangers Valentine's Day

Could the timing have been any worse? Mere days before out annual celebration of all that is love, the anti-Cupids responsible for keeping Blackberry passions smoldering have done let the fire go out again.

Last time this happened, back in April 2007, the results were disastrous, not only in terms of broken connections, but also busted relationships between men and women robbed of their communications lifelines. Here at Buzzblog, we chronicled the case of one such victim, Rafael Paz, in a post headlined: "BlackBerry owes this guy a girlfriend."

It's just like in that series of AT&T/Cingular TV commercials where the gaps of silence created by dropped calls lead to terrible misunderstandings - only this case involves BlackBerry and real life.

Just as the smoke is starting to clear from today's massive BlackBerry blackout, Rafael Paz, a loss control specialist for a car rental agency, writes to tell me that he has been "getting my e-mails about one to four hours late minimum since yesterday." And it hasn't just been loss control that has suffered, he adds: "This issue sucks.

YBS: National Anthem auditions

DAYTON — University of Dayton officials publicly unveiled development plans today, Feb. 18, for its 259-acre campus, including parts of the 50-acre tract it purchased from NCR Corp. in 2005.

While a draft of the plan was previously released to community leaders and described in news reports in September, today's press conference marked the official unveiling and UD trustees' approval of a campus-wide master plan.

Priceline adapts to evolving Web environment

When Christopher Soder decided to join the staff of Priceline.com, spirits were high and the sky was the limit.

"We believed we could be the largest company in the world," he said.

Unfortunately, the dot-com bubble popped months after he joined in early 2000, and his employer struggled as capital dried up and Priceline stock dropped to near-zero.

Priceline recovered and the former Tulsan, now president of its North American travel division, estimates that the company will facilitate $4.7 billion in travel bookings this year alone.

Soder spoke Thursday at the University of Tulsa as part of the TU Friends of Finance Executive Speaker Series.

After spending nearly two decades at Southwestern Bell and AT&T, Soder said, he was intrigued by the business model of Priceline.
