Replica guns seized from collector

I don't understand... Is possession of the replicas actually illegal, or did the police just decide it's not a good idea and take this mans property? There was no discussion of charging him, so I guessing it's the latter. How does anyone tolerate this? .

Harry Redknapp backs James for 2010 World Cup

James is clearly relishing his new lease of life. "I’m loving it at the moment," he said. "I’m happy to contribute, but goals win games. It was a tough game and they were possibly the better side, but, saying that, their keeper has made some good saves himself, so we weren’t completely out of it."

The capacity war in the hard drive industry is in full force and desktop drives are not the only ones benefiting. Current notebook hard drives are at the 500GB mark with recent launches from Hitachi and Samsung when only about 6 months ago the highest capacity notebook drives weighed in at 250GB.

Today, Fujitsu announced its MHZ2 BT line of notebook drives which includes 400GB and 500GB capacities to compete with the capacity of the front-runners in the notebook drive market. The MHZ2 BT line features a SATA 3.0 Gb/sec interface and an 8MB buffer. The rotational speed clocks in at 4200RPM which may prove to be a bit slow compared to the 5400RPM, 500GB drives from Hitachi and Samsung. Despite the rotational speed, the average seek time while writing is 14ms while average read seek times clock in at 12ms which is comparable to the competition.

Former Fort Myers Beach mayor to challenge Judah for Lee commission ...

The District 3 race for Lee County commissioner is getting more crowded.

Anita Cereceda, who was the first mayor of the town of Fort Myers Beach back in 1995 and got over 44 percent of the vote when she challenged incumbent Ray Judah in 2000, says she will announce her candidacy next week.

“I literally decided within the last 48 hours," said Cereceda, a Fort Myers Beach businesswoman who's been a rumored candidate for months.

Cereceda joins a race that already includes Judah, a 20-year incumbent and Gerard David, Jr., who ran in District 2 two years ago without party affiliation. David got almost 40,000 votes in a race with Commissioner Brian Bigelow, good for about 28 percent.

He points out that's more than either Cereceda or Judah got when the two squared off, but that was in a universal primary.

Alliance Data withdraws suit against Blackstone

The company sued Blackstone, claiming the private equity firm appeared to be using issues over regulatory demands as a way to scuttle the deal.

Alliance Data (NYSE:ADS) said in a release Friday it withdrew the lawsuit because it feels more confident that Blackstone is pushing ahead to compete the acquisition.

"In light of Blackstone's confirmation of its commitment to work to consummate the merger, the company has at this time withdrawn its lawsuit without prejudice," Alliance Data said in a release.

Alliance Data employs 1,800 workers at four offices in Central Ohio.

Blackstone agreed last May to acquire Alliance Data at $81.75 a share. Since then, markets have been roiled amid an economic slowdown and credit squeeze. Alliance Data's shares closed Friday at $55.02, up $3.56, on the news that it appeared Blackstone and the company would not be locked in a legal fight.
